Mondays and Thursdays 6.30pm to 9.30pm. If you are calling out of these hours, you can leave a short message on their answer machine and they will get back to you. They also offer a callback service; they will call your mobile for up to 20 minutes of talktime or unlimited time to your landline.

This is a unique helpline service as it is run by young people for young people. The staff are aged 16 to 21 and are specially trained. This is totally confidential and was found to be excellent when tested by our researcher. You can also chat online (there is a waiting room and then you have 20 minutes to chat) - online chat has the same opening hours as above. Connexions Direct
If you are aged from 13 to 19, you can speak to someone at Connexions Direct on any day of the week, yes - that includes weekends. Call 080 800 13-2-19. They are open from 8am to 2am. You can ask them to call you back or you can text them on 077664 13-2-19.

This is a free phone helpline for young people under 25.
This is not a counselling service but aims to put you in touch with people who can help you with a particular problem. They will give you phone numbers from their large database of helplines or they can text you the information. This is a confidential service. These people will put you in touch with someone who can help you in your local area (They do not advise or support you directly. See their Directory of Services on their site). The service is mainly for people ages 12 to 25. This is not a free phone line; calls are charged at the national rate. Their website is www.youthaccess.org.uk

This is a confidential crisis helpline for young people, children and adults and is available Monday to Friday 10am to 1pm and from 7pm to 10pm. Keep trying as this is a busy line. It is run by the Cardinal Heenan Centre in Ilford.

Careline provides confidential crisis telephone counselling for children, young people and adults. They offer a unique service in that they can provide instant telephone counselling to any individual on any issue. They have an extensive referral system covering the whole country and can offer to refer callers to a specific agency or support group in their area if required.
